pCloud: Back Up Photos Before Clearing Space
Verify mobile uploads and understand storage and encryption limits before removing source files.
pCloud can hold personal files and automatically upload mobile media. Choose it based on the capacity and features you need, not the assumption that uploading immediately frees phone space.
Start automatic upload
- Sign in and check your available storage.
- Open Settings → Automatic Upload. Review which media will be uploaded and the network options before enabling it; the default may include your whole library.
- Allow access to the intended media and wait for the upload to complete.
- Open those files in your pCloud account from another device or the web before moving on to a larger transfer.
Follow pCloud’s automatic-upload instructions. If files are missing or the account is full, leave the sources untouched and resolve that first.
Know the limits
- Check the actual free allowance in your account; advertised maximum capacity may require unlock steps.
- pCloud Encryption/Crypto protects files placed in its encrypted area. Do not assume every ordinary upload or automatic photo upload is covered by that optional feature.
- Read the current offer to see whether encryption is included or purchased separately.

Before removing local copies
Deleting a saved item inside pCloud is not the same as clearing the original phone file. Verify the upload and follow the app’s documented local-cleanup options.
For iPhone, Apple-library deletions also affect iCloud Photos when syncing is active. Use the iPhone removal checklist first.
Check the result
Reopen the destination files and recheck phone storage after local removal. Keep another independent copy of irreplaceable media. If you need those files without internet, retain suitable offline copies and allow for their device-space usage.
