OneDrive: Back Up Your Phone Photos
Set up camera backup and check completed uploads before removing phone copies.
OneDrive can be a practical camera-backup destination if you already use Microsoft storage. You do not need a Windows computer just to use the mobile app.
Start camera backup
- Sign in and confirm the destination account.
- Open your profile or Me menu → Settings → Camera backup or Camera Upload, depending on platform.
- Enable the feature and review video inclusion, photo permissions and network settings.
- Wait for uploads, then open recent photos and videos at onedrive.com in the same account.
Follow Microsoft’s mobile instructions. If iPhone uploads pause, check the iOS camera-upload guidance, including background and power conditions.
Before removing local copies
Confirm the complete files exist online. Removing an item inside OneDrive is different from deleting a phone source or releasing an offline download.
On iPhone, deleting photos from the Apple library also affects iCloud Photos when syncing is active. Use the iPhone backup checklist before cleanup. Android users can review the safe backup sequence, using OneDrive’s own removal procedure rather than Google Photos’ buttons.
Check the result
Open the saved media independently and compare phone storage after local cleanup. If uploads are incomplete, stop before deleting sources.
Capacity depends on your account and plan. Check the allowance you already have before buying more, and do not assume every Microsoft subscription includes the same amount of storage.
