iPhone Photos Taking Too Much Space? Keep More, Store Less Locally

- Enable Sync this iPhone and choose Optimize iPhone Storage if you want to keep using iCloud Photos.
- Check sync status and resolve any full-iCloud or paused-sync message. Do not assume the originals are safe online until syncing is complete.

Back up outside iCloud if needed
A separate service or computer can hold an independent copy. With Optimize enabled, some originals may be in iCloud: seeing a thumbnail in another app does not prove the full file transferred.
Use the iPhone backup checklist rather than deleting first and hoping the upload worked.

What if iCloud itself is full?
Use the iCloud storage options. Removing an app from your iPhone will not resolve a full photo allowance in iCloud.
